Lionel Messi discussed when he intends to end his playing career.

With 42 medals in his glittering career, including 10 La Liga crowns, seven Copa del Reys, four Champions Leagues, a World Cup, and a Copa America, Messi is perhaps the greatest player of all time.

The diminutive Argentine has, in the meantime, won a record eight Ballon d’Or titles, three more than his closest competitor Cristiano Ronaldo.

Messi, however, is spending the last years of his career with MLS team Inter Miami after turning 37 this summer.

Speaking on his retirement plans, Messi told Big Time: “I know that the moment I feel that I am no longer able to perform, that I no longer enjoy [playing] or [can] help my teammates, I will quit.

“I’m very self-critical of myself, I know when I’m good, when I’m bad, when I’m playing well and when I’m playing badly.

“When I feel it’s time to take that step, I’ll take it without thinking about age. If I feel good, I’ll always try to keep competing because it’s what I like and I know how to do.”

Messi has not yet considered plans for retirement. His focus is on enjoying the present moments without dwelling on the future after their football career.

Uncertain about his future, Leo expresses a desire to continue playing for the time being. They trust that when the time comes, they will find a way to fulfill their passions and take on a new role.

Reflecting on his sporting achievements, he feels fortunate to have realized all his dreams. The Argentine expresses his gratitude to God for the professional success, personal growth, family, and friends they have been blessed with.

What did Messi say about his departure from Barcelona?

Messi discussed his departure from Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain in the same interview, saying that the Spanish powerhouses could no longer afford to retain the Argentine due to Financial Fair Play limitations.

On his departure, Messi said: “It was difficult to change [clubs] when I went to PSG because I was very well at Barcelona and I thought I was going to stay there.

“I wasn’t ready to leave, everything happened very quickly. I had to rebuild my life from one day to the next. I got to know another league, another club, a new locker room. It was a change we weren’t looking for and that’s why it was difficult at the beginning.”
