Liverpool want to sign Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni

Liverpool are apparently willing to pay €100 million for Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni, who has emerged as Jurgen Klopp’s top transfer priority.

The Reds have been looking for midfield reinforcements in recent weeks, and have already suffered two transfer setbacks at the hands of Chelsea.

The Blues pipped Liverpool to the acquisition of two of their preferred transfer targets, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who both preferred a move to Stamford Bridge. After losing a number of first-team midfielders this summer, Klopp now has a relatively imbalanced midfield.

The departures of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer have made it critical for the Reds to bring in sufficient replacements.

While Liverpool just signed Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo from Stuttgart, Klopp’s team is expected to add one more player before the summer transfer window closes.

Tchouameni, a Real Madrid midfielder, is the latest name to be connected with the Reds’ midfield makeover. According to El Nacional, Liverpool is willing to pay up to €100 million for the French international.

Tchouameni is widely regarded as an important member of the Real Madrid squad, and any prospective trade would be heavily dependent on club president Florentino Perez.

The midfielder is in his second season at Real Madrid after joining the club for a fee in the region of €80 million from AS Monaco last summer.

The Merseysiders are hoping to sign Tchouameni this summer, despite the fact that the player is not assured regular minutes under Carlos Ancelotti.

Tchouameni began Los Blancos’ first La Liga game of the 2023-24 football season against Athletic Bilbao, but he will have heavy competition for minutes in midfield.

During his tenure in Madrid, the Frenchman has made 51 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga giants.
