Lionel Messi (Full name – Lionel Andres Messi), also known as Leo Messi (Lionel Messi Biography) was born on June 24, 1987 in Rosario, Argentina. At that time, he was not as rich as he is at present. His father – Jorge Messi worked as a factory steel worker and his mother – Celia Maria Cuccittini was a cleaner.

Messi Career

When he was 11, he suffered from Growth Hormone Deficiency (GHD). He had an interest to play football from a very young age. Hence, at the age of 13, after his family settled to Barcelona, he joined Barcelona’s Junior Team where he scored 21 goals in just 14 matches. An extraordinary talent with great expectations was to come out as one of the greatest players of all time.

The coaches and trainers were so impressed with his dribbling skills and playmaking. Therefore, at the age of 16, he made his debut for La Liga giants – FC Barcelona. From then, one of the biggest rivalries in the world emerged between him and Cristiano Ronaldo, who stands with him in the race of the greatest player in the world.

After making his debut, he started playing for Barcelona as a starter. With that, he won many trophies with them and became the best player in the history of the club. One after the other, he won many trophies for himself as well with that of a record holding 6 Ballon d’Ors’, standing with Ronaldo in the line. But the surprising fact is that, as a captain, he has never won a single international trophy with his national football team – Argentina.

Leo Messi Facts

He was so poor in his childhood just as like Ronaldo. He faced many problems as well and one of the main issues in his life with his neighbours. As of the fact, he bought his neighbour’s whole dang house, but why did he do that? The reason behind it was that his neighbour was so noisy to him and what Ivan Rakatic told in his statement to a Croatian newspaper Novi List was incredible – “I did not have any problems with the neighbours, not like Messi in Castelldefels,” he told. “He had to buy his house from the neighbours because they were noisy and so he could be alone.” His decision was not fair to his neighbour but it was somewhat funny to read.

If we look at him as a player, then he is the best dribbler in the world. Yes they share similarities between them and that is why they both are of same quality. Sometimes he failed to convert victories and sometimes he won the lost match for his club. Everyone’s life has ups and downs and so as with him also.

Looking at his international career, then we wouldn’t find special in that. For Argentina, he has scored 68 goals in 136 appearances. Not similar like Ronaldo, who has scored 88 goals in 157 appearances for Portugal as a captain but he has made a record for his national team.

No doubt, he is one of the greatest player in the world, his dedication and love for football is strong enough to hold him as the all time top European scorer with Ronaldo standing just behind him. He has achieved this milestone recently and with that, he completed his 400 La Liga goals.
