Wimbledon 2020 canceled due to the Corona epidemic

Sports Desk- The third Grand Slam of the year, Wimbledon 2020, is canceled due to the Corona epidemic. The oldest Grand Slam tennis tournament will not be played for the first time after World War II. The All England Club announced the cancellation of Wimbledon at an emergency meeting on Wednesday. This year the tournament was to be played from 29 June to 12 July.

Earlier, the organizers of Wimbledon refused to hold the two-week tournament without an audience. The organizers had no other option but to cancel it in view of the growing case of Coronavirus infection.

The tournament was first played in 1877 and has been taking place every year since then. It was not played only during the First World War between 1915 and 1918 and during the Second World War between 1940 and 1945. The Tokyo Olympics have been postponed due to the coronavirus. Wimbledon is the first Grand Slam to be canceled due to the epidemic. The French Open in May will now be held in late September. The US Open will be played in New York from August 31 to September 13.
