BWF announces revamped 2020 calendar: India Open to be held in December

Sports Desk- The World Badminton Federation (BWF) on Friday released a revised calendar for the year 2020, as sports activities worldwide stopped due to coronavirus. The India Open Badminton Tournament with prize money of four lakh dollars will be organized from December 8 to 13 while the Syed Modi India International tournament of one lakh 70 thousand dollars will be held in Lucknow from November 17 to 22.

Apart from this, Hyderabad Open will be held from 11 to 16 August while Thomas and Uber Cup finals will be held in Denmark from 3 to 11 October.

The World Tour Super 500 tournament India Open was scheduled to be held in Delhi from March 24 to 29 but was postponed due to the threat of coronavirus. In addition, eight tournament events have been rescheduled including the New Zealand Open Super 300, Indonesia Open Super 1000, Malaysia Open Super 750, Thailand Open Super 500, and World Tour Finals to be held in China.

BWF Secretary General Thomas Lund said it is difficult to plan for the return of badminton.
