Sports Desk – The match No. 36 of the ICC World Cup 2019 was played between Pakistan and Afghanistan at Headingley, Leeds. Pakistan kept their semi-final hopes alive with a thrilling three-wicket win against Afghanistan.

Batting first, Afghanistan posted a competitive 227 for 9 in 50 overs . For Afghanistan, Asghar Afghan and Najibullah Zadran scored 42-42.

Pakistan Innings
It was a hard-fought contest between the two sides with the result being decided in the final over. Pakistan have had a bad start with losing their opener Fakhar Zaman on the second ball of the innings. Pakistan were 174/6 in 43 overs and needed 54 off 42 balls. Haris Sohail and Sarfaraz Ahmed’s wickets had left them in deep trouble. But Imad Wasim’s unbeaten 49 and Wahab Riaz’s 15 off just 9 balls .

Man of the Match : Imad Wasim was adjudged as the Man of the Match award for his crucial knock of unbeaten 49 runs off 54 balls.
