Sports Desk – The first match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is being played between England and South Africa at The Oval. England kicked off their home first World Cup match with a crushing 104-run victory over South Africa. South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first . England’s innings started by Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow . But Bairstow got out without making any runs . Joe Root and Jason Roy then handle England’s innings after this. Both Joe Root and Jason Roy mark their fifties scoring 54 and 51 runs respectively. captain Eoin Morgan 57 runs and Stokes Ben top-scored with 89 as the hosts posted 311 for eight wicket.

In reply, Quinton de Kock (68) and Rassie van der Dussen (50) crafted fifties after Archer (3 for 27) blew away their top order. What was started by Archer, was ended by Liam Plunkett and Stokes as South Africa were bowled out for 207 in 39.5 overs.

Toss Update-

South Africa have won the toss and opted to bowl first against England in the World Cup opener. England captain Eoin Morgan concedes that he was also looking to bowl first considering the conditions.
