Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister has officially said that the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches planned in the state will still be played at the famous M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. This clears up any rumors about changing the venue. Fans and everyone involved are happy to know the exciting IPL games will happen in Bangalore as expected.

Shivakumar gave a promise on December 7, 2025, at Chinnaswamy Stadium after voting in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) elections. He said the stadium is very important and special for Karnataka and Bengaluru. He promised to take steps to make sure future IPL matches happen there.

Background and Incident Details

A large crowd of fans outside M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru caused a stampede during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL 2025 victory parade on June 4. This led to 10 or 11 people dying and many others getting hurt because the security could not control the crowd.

RCB won their first IPL title on June 3 by beating Punjab Kings by six runs in Ahmedabad. Fans celebrated the next day, but the crowd got out of control. Police struggled to manage, and there were 11 deaths and more than 30 people hospitalized at nearby hospitals. RCB mourned the losses, changed their event plans as advised, and Virat Kohli said he was “absolutely gutted”.
