Why Pakistan team is taking army training?

Pakistan cricket team never fails to entertain their fans both on and off the field. There is a T20 World Cup this year in the USA and West Indies in June and every international team is preparing for it. Pakistan’s team has invented a new way to train themselves. They are doing army exercises at Kakul. In this article, we will tell you everything you need to know about the Pakistan team’s army training.

After facing a humiliating exit from the 2023 World Cup in India, the Pakistan Cricket Board decided to change many things in the Pakistan team. Captain Babar Azam stepped down from captaincy from all formats of the game. their coach, director, and chief selector were also changed.

PCB appointed new names in every possible post to give a fresh start to the 2024 year. Shaheen Shah Afridi replaced Babar Azam in white ball’s captaincy whereas Shan Masood replaced Babar in red ball’s captaincy. Mohammad Hafeez was appointed as the new head coach of the team.

Things did not work according to the plans for the Pakistan team as there were no improvements in the team. The team lost badly against Australia in a test series where they were whitewashed by Australia. They played 5 T20Is against New Zealand where they lost 4 under Shaheen Shah Afridi. As things were not looking good, PCB decided to reappoint Babar Azam as their white ball captain. they wanted to have a strong leader who could lead them in T20 World Cup 2024 and looking at Afridi’s form he was struggling to find his place in the team. Babar Azam accepted their proposal and he is now all set to lead the Pakistan team.

Now to improve players’ fitness and to help them stay focused, PCB arranged a two-week camp for the Pakistan Cricket Team at the Army School of Physical Training (ASPT) in Kakul, Pakistan.

In a video shared by PCB on their social media handle, we can see that players like, Iftikhar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, etc are sweating hard in army drills. Mohammad Amir who took his retirement back can also be seen in the videos. This army training helped Pakistan before the 2017 Champions Trophy and to replicate that they are again following the same path.
