In the last three World Cups T20 World Cup 2021 in Dubai he got a chance, World Cup 2022 he got selected for the team, and in World Cup 2023 he was again part of the team where he played only one match against Australia in Chennai.

For the whole year, Ashwin does not play any white ball series and just before ICC events he makes himself available and chips into the team. It is causing Team India in many ways. Ashwin’s performances in white ball cricket are not up to the mark and he is also not a wicket-taker in white ball cricket especially in T20Is.

There is a World Cup in June in the West Indies and the USA, selectors are looking for spinners who can produce match-winning performances in those conditions. There are better spinners than Ashwin who can do better than him; they can also contribute with the bat. Ashwin got fantastic stats in the red ball but did not fit in the T20 setup.
