Cristiano Ronaldo has replied to his international teammate who asked him to join PSG

Cristiano Ronaldo’s international teammate Jose Fonte has tried to get him to sign for Lille following Lionel Messi’s stunning move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Messi has officially signed a two-year contract at PSG. He will be getting an annual salary of €25m for two years.

Fonte is well aware of PSG’s attack ahead of the new season. He even jokingly texted Ronaldo about joining Lille to help them combat Messi and Co.

Messi’s induction to the club have seriously affected other clubs’ mindset.

The Portugal international said: “I feel great. I feel great because it’s incredible to hear a player like Lionel Messi is in French football in our league.

“It’s exciting. Obviously in terms of competitors it’s going to be even harder for us but we’re up for a challenge – I’m texting Cristiano to come to Lille every day! He’s only replied ‘ha ha ha.'”

Fonte added: “Imagine if we keep a clean sheet against them [Messi, Neymar and Mbappe]! It will just value us even more even if we do it.

“Incredible front three. Are they going to defend? I don’t know. It will be interesting to see the competitiveness of the league this year.

“I want to touch on another aspect though. I just want to understand the Financial Fair Play in France.

“Every single club is restricting their spending. They can’t buy a lot, they can’t get players on big wages but then PSG comes and it looks like there’s no law.”

With his contract expiring in 2023, Messi has an option to extend it until June 2024. He is given the number 30 jersey, his second ever that he wore during Barcelona’s 17 season stint.

What’s with Ronaldo for now?

Ronaldo’s contract with Juventus will expire in June 2022. He has told the Italian club that he will not renew his contract and this will be his last season for them.

However, there is still a chance he could leave the club with an option of contract termination. If Kylian Mbappe goes to Real Madrid, PSG will need a striker and Ronaldo would an option for them.

In July, PSG reached Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes who has been in talks with the club since then. If things goes right, Ronaldo will stay until June 2022.
