One Premier League player has Pep Guardiola “obsessed” about him and Pep wants him to join Manchester City.

Guardiola made changes to his team following his historic triple crown victory with City the previous season.

With the arrival of Josko Gvardiol, Mateo Kovacic, Jeremy Doku, and Matheus Nunes, players like Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez, Aymeric Laporte, and Cole Palmer moved on.

However, it seems that Guardiola is focused on adding a major player in the summer. Fichajes claims that Guardiola is focused on Bruno Guimaraes, a midfielder for Newcastle United and Brazil.

After paying £40 million to join the Premier League in January 2022, the former Lyon player has made 97 appearances. But after some recent heavy expenditure, Newcastle needs to raise money, and Guimaraes is one of their most valued assets.

Although some publications claim he has a £100 million release clause in his contract, his estimated net worth is £85 million.

Guardiola has already expressed in public how much he admires Guimaraes, calling him “exceptional” before City defeated Newcastle in the FA Cup quarterfinal.

Guardiola remarked, “He is an exceptional holding midfielder. He is aggressive, with the ball or without the ball.

At set pieces, he’s aggressive and is a real, complete holding midfielder since being at Lyon and now at a club who want to grow up and up.

“I’m sure he’s part of the project for the next years. Definitely.”

Guimaraes has been linked to numerous teams, but he has no intention of leaving after signing a new contract deal in October.

He told Sky Sports: “I’m happy here, in this club doing my best. I love the way the fans like me so I focus on my football and let the people speak.

“Sometimes (people speak about me leaving Newcastle). I’m very happy here, enjoy it a lot. I never felt so much love for the fans like here.

“They’ve been unbelievable for me and my family so I try to play for fans. So I hope I can keep going here for as long as possible.”
