Erik Ten hag has explained the reason behind Jadon Sancho’s exclusion from Manchester United’s squad

Erik ten Hag has stated that Jadon Sancho’s removal from Manchester United’s squad is due to the “strict lines” he has imposed since taking over as manager in the summer of 2022, and that the forward’s transgression was not his first.

Sancho is training away from the squad after refusing to apologize after saying Ten Hag lied about why he was not in the matchday squad for Arsenal’s 3-1 loss on September 3.

“Strict lines is the point, is what the club asked me because there was no good culture before last season so to set some good standards, that is what I did,” Ten Hag said. “That is my job, to control the standards.”

Ten Hag implied that Sancho’s behavior was not his first transgression. “It has never been when someone makes one mistake,” the Dutchman said. “It is a whole process before you come to a certain outcome about strict lines. If staff, players or whoever, if there is a structure to cross lines you have to be strong, absolutely.”

Ten Hag reiterated that his squad is ready for Brighton’s arrival on Saturday, despite the Sancho situation. “The squad is strong, in good spirits and a good mood going into the game,” the 52-year-old said.

Antony has been granted a leave of absence to deal with many charges of aggression against women, which he categorically denies. Ten Hag was asked how his Brazilian was doing.

“I have no idea [when he will be back]. Of course, he is disappointed but he is OK,” the manager said.

Lisandro Martnez returns from injury, however, Sofyan Amrabat is sidelined for Brighton. “Amrabat, he came back unfortunately with the injury, so he will not be available for tomorrow, but I think, on the short notice [soon], yes,” said Ten Hag. “And I’m sure we will all get joy from them.”
