Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have signed New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Seifert as a temporary replacement for England all-rounder Jacob Bethell, who will leave the team after their league match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 23, 2025, to join the England national team for a white-ball series against the West Indies starting May 29.
Seifert, currently playing for Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League, will join RCB for ₹2 crore and is expected to be available from May 24, 2025. However, if Karachi Kings advance to the PSL final on May 25, Seifert may only join RCB by May 26, just in time for their final group stage match against Lucknow Super Giants on May 27.
Tim Seifert has played 66 T20 Internationals for New Zealand, scoring 1,540 runs with a strike rate of around 142-145. He has previously had short stints in the IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2021 and Delhi Capitals in 2022, playing a total of three matches before joining RCB this season.

Jacob Bethell made a notable impact during his brief IPL 2025 stint, including a 55-run innings against Chennai Super Kings, but his departure was expected due to his England commitments.
RCB, currently second in the IPL 2025 standings with 17 points and already qualified for the playoffs, hope Seifert’s inclusion will help maintain their strong position as they aim for a top-two finish to secure an easier path to the final.
