Shamar Joseph Career

West Indies has created history in Australia on 28th January 2024, they defeated Australia in the second test at Gabba, Brisbane. West Indies won the game on fourth day by only 8 runs. Star of the pack was Shamar Joseph who took 7 wickets in his second test match of his career. West Indies defeated Australia in Australia after 27 years. Shamar took wickets of Cameron Green, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood.

Joseph made his debut in January 2024 against Australia in the first test at Adelaide Oval. He took a fifer in that match and took wicket of legendary batter, Steve Smith as his first test wicket. Shamar Joseph was not even confirmed for day 4 as he was injured by a Mitchell Starc yorker on his toe on Day 3 of the game but he was determined to play for his country and told his captain Braithwaite that he will the game next day.

Shamar is just 24 years of age; he comes from a community called as Baracara in Guyana. He comes from a very poor family where there are only 350 members in his community. It is said that there was no internet connection in Baracara community until 2018, there is only one black and white TV in their community. He worked as a security guard to help his family, he also worked as a labour in chopping logs in a factory. Shamar used to practice with apples, oranges, and limes to improve his fast bowling.
