Bottas was signed as a test driver for the Williams Formula One team in 2010, and he continued in that role for two years before being promoted to a race seat in 2013.

In his rookie season, Bottas impressed with his speed and consistency, scoring his first podium finish at the Austrian Grand Prix and finishing the season in 17th place in the drivers’ standings.

In 2014, Bottas established himself as one of the best young drivers in the sport, scoring six podium finishes and finishing the season in fourth place in the drivers’ standings.
