The team from North Macedonia upset Germany 2–1, their first in the last 20 years in the 2014 World Champion’s World Cup football qualifying…

Goran Pandev scored the first goal for North Macedonia in the first half’s injury time. Germany equalized with a goal scored by Ilkay Gundogan in the 63rd minute. But eljif elmas again gave North Macedonia the lead in the 85th minute. After this, Germany could not score an equal goal.

With this victory, North Macedonia has reached second place in Group J ahead of Germany. Armenia occupies the top in this group. He has won all his matches so far. Armenia bounced back after a defeat to Romania 3–2 on Wednesday.

Germany had earlier lost their last match 1–5 to England in 2001 in World Cup qualifying. After this, they were invincible in 35 consecutive matches. Out of these, they had won in the last 18 matches.

North Macedonia has never played in the World Cup, but will take part in the European Championship this year. In another Group J match, Iceland defeated Liechtenstein 4–1.

This was probably Joachim Low’s last match as a head coach for Germany. He will not be the part of the German national team anymore as he told earlier that he would resign as their coach this summer.

There is no news about the new head coach of Germany. But it might happen that Low doesn’t resign from his job and continue to manage Germany the next summer too.
