Supporters of Liverpool are demanding that the contract of one of the team’s key players be terminated.

Liverpool has had its fair share of unfortunate injuries in recent months, but it appears that fans have had enough of one particularly unfortunate person.

When Liverpool acquired Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich in 2020, the crowd was astonished, especially considering that he only paid £20 million.

The manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, is one of the Spaniard’s biggest fans. He was once thought to be one of the best midfield players in the world.

But the midfielder has been troubled by injuries ever since moving to Anfield, including problems with his knees, hamstrings, calfs, and hips. After missing more than nine months due to a hip injury, Thiago finally returned to action on Sunday.

After substituting for the last five minutes of Liverpool’s 3-1 Premier League loss to Arsenal, it seems he has regressed from his previous injury.

During his brief appearance, the 32-year-old experienced muscle soreness; as a result, he will now have to miss further time while undergoing therapy.

Although Thiago’s contract is about to expire in the summer, some Liverpool supporters are demanding that he be freed right now.

“Get rid of him ASAP,” one fan reacted to the news on X, formerly Twitter, while another said: “And people last week said we should give him a new contract. Get him gone asap.”

Liverpool’s tolerance with the player was criticised by one fan, who said, “Should have gotten rid of this chronic injury prone player since last summer.”

One sympathetic fan said: “I love him but please do not renew his contract,” but another said: “Nah, he’s just trolling us now.”

When Thiago’s contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the current campaign, it is anticipated that he will be let go.
