Pau Cubarsi's incredible performance against PSG is a testimony to Spain's bright future

Pau Cubarsi’s amazing performance against PSG and its superstar Kylian Mbappe has impressed football fans including Barcelona’s rivals.

The 17-year-old Catalan defender faced his most difficult test yet as he faced off against Kylian Mbappe and the explosive Paris Saint-Germain offense.

Two days prior to turning seventeen, in January, Cubarsi made his debut in La Liga. He had only made 15 appearances with the main squad, and this was his second Champions League appearance.

If his 16-year-old teammate Lamine Yamal hadn’t also started, he would have become the youngest player to participate in a Champions League quarterfinal.

But the defender showed no fear of the moment with an incredible performance. No player on the field had more clearances in the first half, and he finished the first 45 minutes with a passing accuracy of 92.59 percent.

He recovered the ball five times in the second half in the defensive and midfield thirds; only Joao Cancelo and Beraldo of PSG were able to do so more than he did.

This season, La Masia has been fantastic for Barcelona; some of the names to emerge are Marc Guiu, Fermin Lopez, and Yamal. Pedri and Gavi are other well-known names. Include Cubarsi in the list.
