Real Madrid are planning to sign Jamal Musiala if the negotiations fail with the French superstar next summer.

If they are unable to sign Kylian Mbappe next summer, Real Madrid will reportedly redirect their focus to Bayern Munich star and Liverpool target Jamal Musiala.

Musiala is second on Los Blancos’ priority list, according to the German daily Sport Bild. The present contract of the 20-year-old midfielder with the Bundesliga giants expires in the summer of 2026.

According to the aforementioned source, Bayern Munich wants to offer the player a new contract that would require the club to virtually increase the German international’s salary. Musiala would then reportedly receive €8 million per year.

However, until the end of the season, the midfielder is hesitant to discuss his future at the Allianz Arena or abroad. He made six Bundesliga appearances in 2023-24, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

Musiala has 137 senior squad appearances for Bayern Munich after rising through the junior system. He has 35 goals and 26 assists.

Although Real Madrid wants to bring the player to the Santiago Bernabeu, a deal will be difficult to complete. Liverpool and Manchester City are still interested in Musiala, with Pep Guardiola apparently eyeing him as Kevin De Bruyne’s replacement.

It is unclear whether the former Chelsea youth team member would stay in Germany or move to La Liga or the Premier League.

Jamal Musiala Would Rather Sign Man City Or Real Madrid Than Liverpool

According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich player Jamal Musiala is not interested in leaving Germany. According to the reporter, if he does not opt to stay, his favorite destination would be Real Madrid or Manchester City.

Liverpool are looking for a successor for Mohamed Salah, who is expected to leave for Saudi Arabia in January. Although the club rejected Al-Ittihad’s summer bid of roughly €150 million, the Saudi club is anticipated to return for Salah in January.

Plettenberg stated on his X (previously Twitter) account that Musiala will not be joining Liverpool:

“Liverpool is monitoring him as a possible top replacement for Salah in 2024. But his move to #LFC is absolutely unlikely.”

“If he really would leave Bayern in the next years, there are the only two realistic options for him: Real Madrid & ManCity!”
