Christian Pulisic (Full Name – Christian Mate Pulisic) is an American footballer born on 18th September, 1998 in Pennsylvania, United States. His father, Mark Pulisic and mother, Kelley Pulisic, both played collegiate soccer at George Mason University. Moreover, his father Mark is a former professional indoor soccer player and a former football coach. He has a sister Devyn Pulisic and a stepbrother. He has a cousin also, Will Pulisic, who is also a professional football player.

Childhood

Christian Pulisic has Croatian citizenship because his paternal grandfather’s origin. He studied in Workman Elementary School and grew up playing for local U.S. Soccer Development Academy club PA Classics.

He occasionally trained with local professional club Harrisburg City Islanders currently known as Penn FC. He started his youth career for Brackley Town in 2005 when he was seven years old.

Career

In his teenage years, Pulisic continued playing for the Penn FC. Due to his impeccable skills and brilliant dribbling abilities, Borussia Dortmund signed him in February 2015 when he was just 16 years old.

After representing the U17 side, he got his promotion to the U19 squad in summer 2015. In his debut season, he scored 10 goals and provided 8 assists in just 15 matches.

Pulisic made his Bundesliga debut 30th January 2016. He then made his UEFA Europa League debut against FC Porto on 18th February 2016.

The American scored his first Bundesliga goal against Hamburger SV on 17th April 2016. April 2016. He became the youngest non-German player to score in Bundesliga.

Christian made his UEFA Champions League debut against Legia Warsaw on 15th September 2016. He signed a new contract extension with the club on 23 January 2017 that made him stay at the club till 2020. He scored his first UCL goal against Benfica on 8th March 2017.

On 2nd January 2019, Chelsea signed Pulisic for record $73 million (£57.6 million) transfer fee, making him the most expansive American footballer of all time. He also became the second most expensive transfer from Borussia Dortmund.

Pulisic made his Premier League debut against Manchester United on 11th August 2019. He scored his first hat-trick against Burnley on 26 October 2019. Following his achievement, he became the youngest player for Chelsea to score a PL hattrick. He scored his first UCL goal for Chelsea against Valencia on 27th November 2019.

Christian has represented the U15 and U17 sides of the United States. He led his country as the captain in 2015 U-17 FIFA World Cup. Interestingly, he also received the opportunity to play for Croatia but he declined.

He earned his first senior team call-up on 27th March 2016 to participate in the World Cup qualifying game.

On 30th March 2016, Pulisic made his first international debut for the USA senior team against Guatemala. He then took part in the Copa América Centenario hosted by the United States.

He became the youngest soccer player ever to score in an international match against Bolivia.
