Paris Saint Germain are considering signing Ousmane Dembele on a release clause

According to ESPN, Paris Saint-Germain is close to completing a spectacular deal to sign Ousmane Dembélé from Barcelona.

The French champions have long been intrigued in the 26-year-old forward, and sources say he has already agreed to a five-year contract with PSG.

Dembélé’s contract with Barcelona has a €50 million ($55 million) release clause that is effective until July 31, when it increases to €100 million.

Barca has also made an extended offer to the France international, but PSG are certain that the player is more interested in their vision.

According to insiders, there are still specifics to work out, but negotiations between the player’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, and PSG sporting director Luis Campos are going well.

According to sources, Barcelona manager Xavi wants to keep Dembélé since he considers him a crucial player, but the club recognizes that getting a large transfer fee will help them with their financial troubles.

If Dembélé agrees to the move and PSG pays the release clause, the Catalans will be powerless to intervene. Dembélé joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 in a €105 million transfer, although he has struggled with injuries during his time at Camp Nou.

In 185 games with Barcelona, he has scored 40 goals and won three LaLiga titles. Dembélé is the newest addition to PSG’s roster, which includes Marco Asensio, Manuel Ugarte, Lucas Hernández, Cher Ndour, Lee Kang-in, and a new manager, Luis Enrique.

Meanwhile, PSG is still looking for a resolution to the contract disagreement with Kylian Mbappé after the striker rejected down discussions with Saudi club Al Hilal.

According to ESPN, Real Madrid remains Mbappé’s favored destination if he moves this summer, and progress on a prospective trade is expected next month.
