Sports Desk – The 2014-15 season of Italian football became a scandal, also known as Dirty Football, when a total of 50 people were arrested in suspicion of match fixing. It involved rigged matches in that season.
Around than 30 clubs from Italy’s third and fourth divisions were involved in the scandal. More than 70 people were under investigation. Some of the charged people had some relations with Mafia Organisations.
Catanzaro prosecutors said that they had resolved an alleged network between club presidents, coaches, players, and some management members.
ANSA news agency said that the arrested ones were suspected of “conspiracy to commit sporting fraud.” Police said that the criminals were involved in dozens of matches.
Reports said that the ‘Ndrangheta crime syndicate was believed to be behind some of the match-fixing.
Not only that, the corruption was also going between the scandal. That is a police officer was also involved in the scandal.
Apart from that, the Serie A and B matches were held between the scandal. The 2014-15 season was the worst nightmare for the Italian football.
