Former Pakistan cricketer Umar tests positive for COVID-19

Sports Desk- The deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19) is also impacting the sports world. Former Pakistan cricket team opener Taufeeq Umar’s has been found to be coronavirus test positive. Taufeeq has isolated himself.

The 38-year-old is first international-level Pakistan cricketer to be infected with the coronavirus though the country lost former first class cricketer Zafar Sarfraz to the disease on April 13. Sarfraz, who had played 15 first class games for Peshawar, died aged 50.

Taufeeq said that I got corona test due to ill health and the result came positive. My symptoms are not so severe. I have isolated myself at home as a precaution. I appeal to all the people that they wish me well soon.

He is the fourth cricketer to be infected with this coronavirus. Before them, Majid Haq of Scotland, Zafar Sarfraz of Pakistan, and Solo Encueni of South Africa also came to Corona Test positive.

Taufeeq Omar has played 44 Tests and 22 ODIs for Pakistan cricket team. Taufeeq scored 7 centuries and 14 half-centuries in Tests. At the same time, he scored 3 half-centuries in ODIs. Taufeeq scored 2963 runs in 44 Tests at an average of 37.99.
