Sports Desk – Virat Kohli has become the first person from India to have 70 million followers on Instagram. The captain of the Indian men’s cricket team is regarded as one of the best batsmen in the current generation. He has so far 1003 posts on the picture-sharing website and is following 171 people. He is the fourth sportsperson to reach the number globally.

Portugal’s football star Cristiano Ronaldo (232 million), Barcelona legend Lionel Messi (161 million) and Brazil’s footballer Neymar (140 million) have more followers than the Indian captain. Kohli recently overtook NBA superstar LeBron James (69 million).

The Indian captain had been the most-followed Indian on Instagram for quite some time. While he remains at the top, the second-most followed Indian is actor Priyanka Chopra (55 million).

The 31-year-old is also India’s most valuable celebrity. According to a study by global advisory firm, Duff and Phelps, Kohli topped the brand valuation list for the third consecutive year as his value rose by an impressive 39 per cent to $237.5 million in 2019.
