Brighton has nearly signed Ansu Fati on loan from Barcelona

Brighton could be on the verge of signing Barcelona attacker Ansu Fati before Tottenham.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Seagulls are willing to make a “big effort” to sign Fati before the transfer window shuts.

Fati has recently been linked with a move to Tottenham, and it has been said that a deal is “99 percent done.” However, it appears that Brighton have also contacted Fati’s camp to discuss a possible move after learning that he may be available.

And Fabrizio Romano has stated that the Seagulls are closing in on Fati and that he is prepared to travel to the Amex Stadium rather than north London.

Fati is claimed to be “in love” with manager Roberto De Zerbi, who is willing to make him a vital player for his team.

Brighton’s beautiful and adventurous style of play has earned them plaudits in the Premier League under De Zerbi. The squad finished sixth in the table last season and will play European football this season.

However, according to MD, Fati has a late option to stay in Spain if he so desires. They believe that a ‘big’ La Liga club has moved late to attempt to entice Ansu to join them.

They argue that the best thing for him is to stay in La Liga because he is already at ease there. Fati will make a decision in the next several hours.

Given the difficulty many Spanish clubs are having fitting into their salary cap, it is tough to conceive that it could be many La Liga clubs.

Previously, it was rumoured that Ansu wanted to join a ‘big’ club, with Liverpool and Atletico Madrid being mentioned, and Los Rojiblancos appear to be the best placed to make a bid for Fati if they so desired.
