One of his Manchester United players, Erik ten Hag has issued a strong warning.

Following their miserable beginning to the season, United’s 23–24 season has been one to forget. Eight points behind Aston Villa in fourth place in the Premier League standings, Ten Hag’s team is presently in sixth place.

United’s hope of competing in the Champions League was dashed as they lost to Bayern Munich, FC Copenhagen, and Galatasaray in their group.

Before losing to Fulham, United had gone seven games without a loss, so they had gained some momentum in recent weeks. Late goals from Alex Iwobi and Marco Silva’s team sealed a thrilling 2-1 victory at Old Trafford, defeating the Red Devils.

The play of winger Antony, who has only managed one goal and one assist in 25 games, has been one of the major talking points this season.

Ten Hag acknowledged that the Brazilian hasn’t played to his full ability in remarks made prior to their game against Fulham.

He said: “He has to prove a point, that he will do. And he has big potential. He hasn’t shown it lately, but I know what his talent is, and it’s about proving his talent, and it’s about him.

“And, yeah, he will probably get his opportunities, right? But, yeah, I think that was always the idea.”

Ten Hag continued: “You have competition, and now he has to show himself on the training pitch, but also others because we have opportunities there.

“With [Amad] Diallo returning from an injury, he’s doing well in the training. Omari Forson is doing well. So we have options to fill in those positions. And it’s not set that Marcus Rashford has to play as a centre forward.”

Next weekend, United will return to action when they play Sunday afternoon against Manchester City, a local rival.
