Conor McGregor (Full Name – Conor Anthony McGregor) is an Irish professional mixed martial artist born on 14 July 1988 in Dublin, Ireland. His father’s name is Tony McGregor and mother’s name is Margaret McGregor. He has two sisters – Erin McGregor and Aoife McGregor.


At the age of 12, Conor McGregor began training in boxing at ‘Crumlin Boxing Club’ under Phil Sutcliffe. He used to play football as well and played for the local club – ‘Lourdes Celtic FC. His family moved to Lucan, Dublin when he turned 18 where he attended an Irish-speaking school.


On February 17, 2007, Conor McGregor made his MMA debut for the ‘Irish Ring of Truth’ in Dublin. He won the fight against Kieran Campbell and was later signed by the ‘Irish Cage of Truth.’

He then started training under John Kavanagh. Let us tell you that Conor is left-handed and sometimes uses conventional stances as well.

In 2012, Conor became the first European professional MMA to hold titles in two divisions simultaneously – ‘CWFC’ featherweight and lightweight championships.

In February 2013, Conor signed a multi-fight contract with UFC. On April 6, 2013, he won his UFC debut against Marcus Brimage. He was given his first ‘Knockout of the Night’ award for the same.

During his fight with Holloway at UFC Fight Night 26, Conor tore his anterior cruciate ligament. His injury required surgery so he couldn’t fight for about ten months.

On July 19, 2014, He fought Diego Brandão in Dublin and won the bout. His performance earned him his first ‘Performance of the Night’ award.

On September 27, 2014, Conor faced Dustin Poirier at ‘UFC 178,’ and won the fight. Let us tell you that it was Poirier’s first UFC loss.

Conor faced Chad Mendes for the ‘Interim Featherweight Championship’ in front of a record 16,019 spectators. He won the bout with his fourth ‘Performance of the Night’ award.

Conor faced Aldo at ‘UFC 194’ on December 12, 2015, in Las Vegas in front of a record-breaking number of spectators. The fight was declared the fastest finish in any ‘UFC’ bout.

The Irish became the second undisputed ‘UFC Featherweight Champion’ in history. He also won his fifth ‘Performance of the Night’ award.

He lost his first UFC fight against Nate Diaz and and his third overall MMA career fight. Both won the ‘Fight of the Night’ award and Conor received the highest amount for the fight in UFC history, a total of $1,000,000.

Talking about his fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov, he lost against the Russian legend via a submission in the ‘UFC Lightweight Championship’ in Las Vegas.

Personal Life

Conor McGregor has been in a relationship with Dee Devlin since 2008. The couple welcomed their first child – Conor Jack McGregor Jr. on May 5, 2017.

He was arrested in March 2019, on charges of strong-armed robbery and criminal mischief in Miami, Florida.
