Kevin de Bruyne is a Belgian midfielder born on 28th July, 1991 in Drongen, Belgium. His father, Herwig de Bruyne, was involved in the oil investment business and his mother’s name is Anna de Bruyne. He has three children, Mason Milian De Bruyne, Suri De Bruyne and Rome De Bruyne.

Childhood

Kevin’s family was almost always on the move due to his father’s business purposes. He started playing football in school.

One of the biggest early motivations for Kevin was the fact that Belgian football was in a very pathetic condition when he was growing up.

At the age of 14, Kevin left him home due to lack of proper infrastructure. He joined Genk’s youth academy and started improving his skills.

He survived on the very little money that he made at the club. However, he had a very little time to meet his family.

Career

In 2008, he was selected for Genk’s first team squad. He made his debut in May 2009. In October 2011, Kevin scored his first hat-trick for Genk in a match winning performance against Club Brugge.

Chelsea decided to sign Kevin and he made his debut for them in July 2012. In August 2012, Chelsea loaned him to Bundesliga club Werder Bremen. However, he made his comeback at Chelsea in July 2013.

In January 2014, Chelsea decided to let Kevin go to Wolfsburg. He helped Wolfsburg to qualify for 2014-15 UEFA Champions League. He was named the Footballer of the Year in Germany at the end of the season.

Finally in August 2015, Manchester City signed him for 55 million pounds, making him the second costliest purchase by any English club. In April 2016, he led Man City to the semi-finals of UCL 2016-17. This was the first time that Man City had reached this far in UCL.

In January 2018, Manchester City announced that they will be keeping him until 2023 as a new contract had been signed.

Rumors spread that Kevin will be playing in the English national team given the fact that his mother was an English woman. But he chose Belgium and made his international debut for his national side in a friendly match against Finland in 2010.

Personal Life

KDB has been in a relationship with Michele Lacroix since 2014. In 2016 ,his wife gave birth to a son. The couple got married in June 2017. Kevin is known for his short temper off and on the field.

In 2013, it was reported by Daily Mail that Kevin’s then girlfriend Caroline Lijnen was cheating on Kevin with his teammate Thibaut Courtois.

Kevin loved to learning new languages made him fluent in French, Dutch, English and German.
